The neighbourhood I lived in in South Korea (Wondong) was developed only 4 years before I arrived. Before that it was rice fields, and farm houses. During my stay there around 20 new buildings went up within a 5 minute walk from my house, and a few older free-standing churches and farm houses were torn down. The postcard photos are taken mostly in wondong, but also at the Okin apartment site in Seoul (an older apartment complex scheduled for demolition). The Okin apartment site was brought to my attention through an artist group who scheduled walks through the torn out buildings. The artist in charge of the walks was still living in one of the partially demolished buildings along with a few other (mostly older residents) who were either protesting or had difficulty relocating due to higher (around 4 times higher) key money (initial rent) in the surrounding area.
